Wahoo weekend

Panoramic ski slopes of Gavarnie with the freeride routes of the Pic du Midi, the scale of the mountains here is huge. In Gavarnie, you can jauntily slide your ski tips, surrounded by the highest peaks of the Pyrenees listed by UNESCO. Mount Astazous, Mount Marboré or Mount Taillon all offer thrilling views. And at the Pic du Midi you’ll find an altitude of 1,700 meters without a living soul and the only echo is that of your skis gliding on the snow.

3 star hotel in Luz Saint Sauveur

Located in the centre of the traditional village of Luz Saint Sauveur, on the way to the Grand Sites of the Cirque de Gavarnie and the Col du Tourmalet, this attractive 19th century hotel invites you to travel back to another era of elegance and style. Its sunny terrace overlooks the Gave river and offers over a superb view over the slate roofs of the village to the Bareges valley with the Pic du Midi on the horizon. The restaurant has large bay windows from where one can equally admire the surrounding mountains. Pigeon lofts, carved balustrades, the ambience and decor of the restaurant... everything is Belle Epoque. The restaurant serves traditional fare - garbure, confit de canard, grilled local lamb. A delight to come back to after a day's skiing or from exploring the mountains in summer.

Gavarnie, fine skiing at a World heritage site:

The Cirque de Gavarnie is the most famous natural arena in France. The majestic cirque is a World Heritage site. In winter its waterfalls freeze into dramatic ice formations, whilst its many towering peaks bring an extra dimension. The Cirque can be seen from the village and also from the ski resort. The Pic des Tentes chairlift offers a sensational panoramic view.

Our favourite ski run:

The beautiful runs through the forests of the Ayre above Bareges, a magical setting with the superb Chez Louisette restaurant at the bottom of the runs. These legendary runs once welcomed the European ski championships.
