The Cirque de Gavarnie, a World Heritage site
The most famous and the most spectacular natural cirque...
50 million years ago in the Pyrenees water and glacial erosion created a number of natural ‘cirques’ with a remarkable perfection. Gavarnie is the most famous and the most spectacular. With 16 summits of over 3000 metres and the highest waterfall in Europe it possesses a magnificent beauty.
The natural spectacle it offers is remarkable. This once hidden area «resembles nothing that is found anywhere else» wrote Victor Hugo. Adjoining the great canyons of Aragon in Spain it is part of the «Gavarnie - Mont Perdu» World Heritage site.
Cieléo, your spa centre
Specially conceived for relaxation the CIELéO spa offers an infinite range of pleasurable experiences. Between enjoyment, contemplation and body treatments, a visit is a wonderful mixture of blues from the sky and blues from the waters, to illuminate that feeling of wellbeing. The journey takes the visitor over three levels of pleasure and relaxation. Massages with the Baragine, anti-stress treatments with chocolate, mud applications, beauty treatments, organic facials... Let your self be carried away by the wonderful range of treatments on offer... The relaxation area beneath the magnificent glass dome has power jets, thermal water pools, geysers, jet showers, steam baths and more. You will feel close to the sky with a view over the whole valley, particularly sublime from the jacuzzi.
Néouvielle Nature Reserve
The Néouvielle Nature Reserve is unique, its completely unspoiled natural environment offers visitors a superb spectacle
The richness of the flora and fauna, together with the many lakes and sublime scenery, have made the Néouvielle a subject for detailed study and attention. Created in 1936, the Néouvielle Nature Reserve is one of the earliest established in France. The area covers 2300 hectares and counts more than 70 lakes (Aubert, Aumar, Orédon, Cap de Long, Laquettes…) and pools in which more than 570 species of algae have been identified.
The area is covered with Pins à Crochets (a dwarf mountain pine), the tree growing at the highest altitudes in Europe, this famous range is bordered by the massive limestone walls of Barroude and the Pic Néouvielle at more than 3000m of altitude.
This is a paradise for walkers, there are many possible circuits and the grand tour of the Néouvielle can be done staying in the 5 guarded refuges. In order to preserve and protect the beauty of the site but also to help you explore, many facilities have been created (welcome centre, parking, waymarked trails, toilets…).
