A day of freeride skiing at Pic du Midi.
The most iconic freeride area in the Pyrenees. You just have to reach the summit by cable car and then enjoy 1,700 metres of descent over 10km of beautiful snowy slopes with incredible views.
At the end of the day, take a little detour to the Aquensis Thermal Spa. Relaxation assured in the warm and beneficial waters of its interior pool, a sensory journey in the hammam with sweet perfumed vapours.

The village of Saint Lary connects to the ski area by cable cars, and offers the warm and traditional welcome of a real Pyrenean village, it is located close to the Spanish border.
The Grand Tourmalet, your ski resort
The Grand Tourmalet ski resort has the largest ski area in the French Pyrenees.
On the Bareges side the ambience is of a typical Pyrenean village, on the La Mongie side you will find all the services of a 'foot of the slopes' resort in a high mountain setting. The Pic du Midi with its spectacular freeride descent forms part of the ski area. The Grand Tourmalet guarantees a grand skiing experience.
Gavarnie, your ski resort
Gavarnie is one of the wonders of the Hautes-Pyrenees; it is one of our Grands Sites. Gavarnie is classified as World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. Change of scene, come skiing in this breathtaking landscape and enjoy the contact with nature.
The Pic du Midi cable-car, easy access to the highest summits!
Take the Pic du Midi cable car for a spectacular voyage to the summit at 2877 metres, where 1000 m2 of viewing terraces await, marvel at the 360 degree panorama over the whole of the Pyrenees, the plains of the south west and even the Massif Central. The Pic du Midi also houses a famous astronomical observatory, a star museum (the highest museum in Europe) which explains the history of this exceptional site and the exploration of the universe.
Practical info : Access by cable car from La Mongie - restaurant at the summit. The Pic du Midi also offers observation evenings with a night spent at the summit. The off-piste descent on skis is one of the great runs in Europe.

The Sensoria spa in Saint Lary offers a superb range of treatments for its clients. In both summer and winter your children can enjoy the swirling pools, the geysers and the waterfalls whilst parents can relax on the water bubble beds, jet massages and in the jacuzzi, the glass facade offers a magnificent view over the Pyrenees.
Balnea, your spa centre
Nestled in the warm waters of Balnéa, you can watch the glimmering peaks of the Pyrenees. At the edge of Lake Loudenvielle, in the heart of nature, Balnéa takes both children and adults on a cruise of well-being around the world. Roman baths with stones and mosaics; Amerindian space with totems emerging from the lagoon; Japanese space with its outdoor pools; Tibetan space for cures ... A beautiful journey to enjoy together.

In the heart of Bagnères-de-Bigorre, the azure façade of a mansion indicates Aquensis, Thermal Spa and architectural jewel. Baths and lagoons bubble under a wooden frame that looks like a cathedral. Baqueira offers ski safari routes in the heart of the resort. With 3 levels of classification (beginner, advanced and expert), they will allow you maximum slides with minimum lifts.
Take your ‘Winter Break’ in Peyragudes:
This new mountain restaurant promises a great break during your day skiing. To fit in with your timings, you have the choice between: breakfast (from 9:30am); the gourmet buffet prepared by Stéphane, the Michelin starred chef (from 11:00am to 3:00pm); Ski drive for snacks (from 11:00m to 5:00pm); afternoon tea with cocktail and live music (from 3:00pm); the Magic Hour with apéro tapas and sunset (from 5:00pm to 7:00pm); and every Saturday during school holidays, gourmet dinners (from 7:00pm to 9:00pm).
La Mirabelle, our favourite slope - Saint-Lary:
Isabelle Mir, native of Saint-Lary and Olympic champion practises on the slopes in the resort. To follow in her tracks, take the Mirabelle slope. It starts at the top of the resort and leads you down to the bottom. Facing you are the snow-capped Pyrenean peaks... Superb!
Skiing on the slopes of a mountain pass:
The famous Tour de France pass that upsets the rankings, the Tourmalet pass is transformed into a winter playground for skiers. It's up to you to tame this mythical place and savour the landscape.
The mighty cirque:
Gavarnie is the world's most famous natural arena, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Don’t just ski there, we recommend taking a break in the village and walking on the Cirque path. In front of you are the waterfalls, frozen in the ice, and the impressive peaks at more than 3000m altitude. A show of beauty!
At the top of the Pic du Midi the panorama is magnificent. 300km of Pyrenean peaks, the great plains of the south and in clear weather you can see the foothills of the Massif Central in the distance. Those with a head for heights will be able to get an even bigger view by stepping onto the panoramic viewpoint.
