Lunch on the summit:

With a magnificent view over the Pyrenees, the Pic du Midi restaurant will delight you with its food. Original dishes using local products are served at nearly 3000 metres of altitude.

The Col du Tourmalet, the giant of the Pyrenees:

The famous Col du Tourmalet is known the world over as it has so frequently featured on the Tour de France over the years, the first time being 1910! It is the highest road pass in the Pyrenees at 2115 metres, the views from the top are superb.

The Col d'Aspin:

Wilder, quieter and less high than many other cols, a trip over the Aspin offers a superb itinerary with probably the best panorama from the top. Its summit is a classified site without any construction and given over to the grazing of horses and cows. The view towards the Pic du Midi is fabulous with equally good views over the Aure valley and the Arbizon. The gentel rolling grasslands at the top have some great walks along the ridge.

No fire on the lake!

Take a moment to enjoy the beautiful green setting of Lac de Payolle. Forests and verdant prairies with the Pic du Midi towering above... here time moves slowly, life is gentle and the living is easy.

The Lesponne valley and the Magenta waterfall:

The Lesponne valley is a secret haven of green with an astounding number of stone barns dotted throughout, many still with thatched roofs. It is superb place for walkers with the Magenta waterfall as the favourite destination.

The Aquensis Spa Baths:

The comforting warm waters of the Aquensis spa provide the perfect way to finish your day. The building is beautiful constructed with huge wooden beams, try the steam baths to be transported to the Far East, or the open air jacuzzis with views over the summits...

Barefoot walks:

The Barefoot Walking Trail of the valley offers the opportunity to rediscover times gone by. By following the trails by the side of the streams and through delightful woodland you can really 'taste' nature through your feet - the cool earth, warm sand, rough woods, hard stones, the crackling bark amongst many other elements whose feel and touch become so alive.

The Petits Fruits museum in Campan:

Campan is situated beneath the Pic du Midi and houses the Petits Fruits worksop and shop, a festival of flavours! Here you can enjoy a superb variety of tastings - jams, jellys, sauces, aperitifs, liqueurs, flavoured vinegars, fruit juices... the finest of gourmets will be in heaven. There are many classical products which are re-worked but also many traditional sweet and sour varieties, and some most surprising. These delicious flavours are just perfect to accompany cheeses, foie gras, fish and grills. There is an educational tasting and walking trail alongside the boutique.

Set off for a gourmet pause

In this renovated railway station a stainless steel railway carriage has been converted into a tea room, head off on a gourmet voyage! Hot chocolate, teas and cakes are waiting! Just a few steps away on the old railway line (closed since 1970) sits a BB4240 train which was built in Tarbes, a real museum piece as only four still exist in France, a lovely original place to take you back in time.

Mini-golf for all the family:

Close to the spa gardens of Bagneres de Bigorre this mini-golf must have one of the most beautiful settings in France. The 18 hole course has a superb verdant setting at the foot of the Bedat mountain. There are waterfalls and pools which provide a delightful ambience. The club house is a rustic wooden chalet and has a lovely flower- filled terrace, it is a favourite meeting place. One can enjoy delicious crepes, ices and drinks.
