The Azun valley is a lovely unspoiled green haven, dotted with many delightful mountain villages with their characteristic slate roofs and stone walls. It is an area where sheep and cattle roam, where man and nature live in complete harmony.

It is a superb place to stay for a holiday, convivial, with a warm welcome... Mornings start slowly, then you can choose the pace of your day.
Easy walks and strolls, lovely picnic spots on the water's edge. There are many lakes to enjoy, Estaing, Suyen, Isaby... the dramatic Tech valley with its own lake, the panoramic Col de Soulor, the Pibest nature reserve...

It is wonderful watching the marmots in their natural setting, in complete liberty. We will take you to these secret corners where you can observe these adorable creatures... their whistling, their races across the grass, the look-outs on the rocks... one could spend a whole day watching their show!

One must try the naturally warm waters of the exotic Jardin des Bains spa baths, relax in their soothing water gardens, the scented baths and the mysterious Inca wells.

Chalet in campsite in the Val d'Azun

Here you are in the centre of a unique mountain environment with a magnificent view over the surrounding Pyrenean summits. Museums of the mountain way of life, Romanesque churches and ancient water mills are be found in this valley, sometimes called the 'valley of light'. The Azun valley actually has 10 villages, 3 valleys, 4 mountain passes, peaks, rivers, lakes, and miles of footpaths to explore. From the Balaitous to the Gabizos or towards the peaceful Lac d'Estaing, you can always find that special place where it is just lovely to sit down and soak it all in.

The chalets:

We offer you a chalet perfectly integrated into its environment on a small 3 star campsite. The communal buildings are constructed in wood and stone, the chalets themselves are in imitation Canadian wood with covered terraces with a magnificent panorama over the Azun valley.

July and August

The Interpretation trail of the Plan d'Aste, a nature walk for all the family:

In the magnificent Tech valley on the edge of the Pyrenees National Park the scenery is remarkable. Follow the waymarked nature trail, along the way the secrets of the waters, the forests and the geology will be revealed. It is a protected site.

Spend a moment at Lac d'Estaing...

The road getting there is simply lovely, towering summits come into view as you approach the lake along a charming and gentle valley. The area around the lake is a protected zone. The setting is beautiful, perfect for family exploration, or a picnic, with many mountains streams crossing the grasslands.

The Lac de Suyen:

You will adore the delightful Lac de Suyen. The light of the lake is ever changing, the surrounding plant life provides a festival of colour, there is a lovely waterfall and the ancient Doumbla cabin to admire. One can often watch the marmots and if you are lucky even catch a glimpse of an Isard, so take your binoculars!

The lac d’Isaby:

Visit the Isaby lake and become part of a legend. It is said that the Isaby valley was home to an enormous snake which gobbled up everything which came here. One day a blacksmith from the valley decided to summon up all his courage to confront the snake. The snake became angry and sucked up all the rivers and snow of the valley then spat it all out at the feet of the blacksmith. Thus the Isaby lake was created, come and visit the legend...

The Col de Soulor - one of the best views in the Pyrenees:

As far as the eye can see the high mountain pastures stretch into the distance with cows, sheep, horses and goats enjoying the lush grass. Watch spectacular birs of prey circling high in the sky. Discover also the only collective cheese maturing facility in the Hautes Pyrenees where 'Jojo' tends to over 3000 cheeses which the local farmers from the Arbeost valley and the Bearn have placed in his care.

The Pibeste Regional Nature Reserve, the largest in France:

The site benefits from a local micro-climate which is warm and dry, it creats an exceptional and original flora and fauna. There are four waymarked nature trails.

The Pyrenees Animal Park:

The Pyrenees Animal Park offers a different way of looking at nature. Across a green and rocky terrain, you are invited to discover the intimate life of the animals. The large carnivores, bears, wolves and lynx live beside the smaller ones, weasels, martins, and otters. Enjoy also the mountain species - vultures, deer and Isard. A selfie with an adorable marmot is a must!

An aerial ballet of birds of prey, a spectacular show:

The Donjon des Aigles offers an exceptional display of falconry, a magnificent aerial ballet of these superb birds where the visitor can feel the wind from their wings so close do they fly over, all is set to music and takes place in the ruins of an ancient castle. The show finishes with a colourful and noisy parade of parrots.

Play monkeys in the trees, the Chloro'fil treetop adventure park:

If your children are looking for a real adventure, they will find it here in the treetops. Routes through the treetops for all ages with monkey bridges, nepalese crossings, and flying harnesses to negotiate. It a real test of balance and bravery to emulate your comic book heros, are you King Kong, Spiderman, Tarzan or Indiana Jones? Thrills guaranteed!

The zip wire at the Col du Soulor: hang on tight!

An open air leisure site with a spectacular setting. Thrills guaranteed on the 300 metre long zip wire at the Col du Soulor in the Azun valley.

Lau'Folies is a water park for all ages:

It has pools, toboggans, tennis, beach volley, inflatables. The brave will love the Kamikaze toboggan with its 8.5 metre vertical descent, thrills guaranteed yet all is safe and secure for your children. For younger children there are play pools, a mini-toboggan and a mushroom shower!

The Mountain Luge, an exciting toboggan descent in summer:
